The MangledwurzelsSince their appearance at the first CiderFestivals.co.uk festival at Bath Pavilion in February of 2007, The Mangledwurzels have become a fixture at all the cider festivals. 2007 saw them dragged the breadth of the coujntry to cider festivals in Mumbles, Brighton and Norwich, as well as local festivals in Frome and Bath. 2008 saw them play to sell-out crowds at the Bristol and Bath festivals - and when another band usurped them at Bristol (The Mangledwurzels had a prior booking - and you can't let a bride down on her wedding day!), the general feeling was that it wasn't a proper cider festival without The Mangledwurzels... The Mangledwurzels are a three-piece Scrumpy & Western band based in Somerset celebrating the works of the Adge Cutler and The Wurzels. More than a tribute band, The Mangledwurzels play Wurzels songs, old and new, blended with self-penned original songs and pop standards 'Mangled' in true Wurzels tradition. Formed in early 2005, The Mangledwurzels are all experienced musicians who have graced a wide variety of stages and venues throughout the country. The band effortlessly convey their innate sense of fun and humour to their audiences both through the song lyrics and their performance, and can be guaranteed to satisfy any size of audience regardless of age, gender or musical preferences. Based in the West Country, with the majority of the band born and bred in Somerset, The Mangledwurzels are in the ideal position to produce a genuine West Country Scrumpy & Western sound ideal for a cider festival. With a deal signed with independent record label Loose Records (who had the real Wurzels on their books in the 1990s), and a sponsorship deal with award-winning Somerset cheese-makers Wyke Farms, The Mangledwurzels released their critically acclaimed second album "Wurz'Ee II" in July 2009 containing fifteen original Wurzels-flavoured, cider-fuelled, Scrumpy & Western songs reeking with rustic charm. The band is looking to bring their brand of Scrumpy & Western to an increasingly wider audience in 2011 - but will always be first in line for a CiderFestivals.co.uk cider festival.
