Booking the Mangledwurzels

Jethro and Hedge work out how many 'la's are in the chorus of Keep Your 'And on Your 'Alfpenny at The Norwich Cider Festival (29 Jun 2007) The Mangledwurzels have been booked to play gigs at pubs and private clubs, birthday and anniversary parties (surprise parties are always fun!), wedding receptions, charity fundraisers, agricultural shows, cider festivals, corporate functions and Christmas parties.

The Mangledwurzels are almost fully booked up for July and August - apart from mid-week slots, the only weekend slots free in July are: Friday 25th July, Saturday 26th July (daytime gig within range of Rangeworthy BS37) and Sunday 27th July (evening gig on the way home from Hayling Island, PO11).

Availability in August is limited to Friday 1st August, Sunday 3rd August (evening gig within range of Bristol), Saturday 16th August (afternoon gig within range of Winford, North Somerset), Sunday 17th August (evening gig within range of Shepton Mallet) and Bank Holiday Monday 25th August.

September is also looking busy. All Friday and Saturday evenings are booked up, but the band can slot in afternoon gigs on the Saturdays 13th, 20th and 27th if time and distance allow. The band is also still available for bookings on Sunday 14th and 21st September.

The Mangledwurzels on stage at the Sherston Boules Festival (15 July 2006) The Mangledwurzels are a three-piece band capable of providing a performance intimate enough for the smallest of venue, pub or club, or big enough for a large outdoor event or indoor arena such as the Mid-Somerset Show or Bath Pavilion. The Mangledwurzels effortlessly convey their innate sense of fun and humour to their audiences both through the song lyrics and their performance. The Mangledwurzels can be guaranteed to satisfy any size of audience regardless of age, gender or musical preferences.

You can listen to and download The Mangledwuzels Sampler containing clips of six songs recorded live in 2007: Blackbird, Combine Harvester, Chitterlings, I Can Drive A Tractor, Scrumpy Jack, and I Am A Cider Drinker. A further four tracks are available to hear in their entirety on The Mangledwurzels MySpace page - Get Orf My Land!, The Rat Song, The 12 Days Of Christmas and Santa's Coming To Somerset.

The Mangledwurzels outside St. Andrews' Hall, home of The Norwich Cider Festival (29 Jun 2007) The bands requirements are minimal:

  • A performance space large enough to fit three musicians, one set of keyboards, a bass drum and a PA.
  • Two power points within easy reach.
  • Parking for three cars, preferably with easy access for loading and unloading.
  • Some place to get changed - nothing too plush is required; but asking them to 'change in the gents toilets' is not on! Only one venue did that (while the toilet was in use!) - the band won't bother to play there again...
  • A food/drinks rider is not expected, but a round on the house or a free rein at the buffet is always appreciated!

The band can provide all their own equipment. They have four PA systems of differing power to cope with a range of venue sizes, and their own lighting.
