Llama Recording Studios in Frome to heard the final mix of the
three tracks.
Tuesday
20 November - The Mangledwurzels returned to Frome
Community College to see how the video is progressing - and
were mightily impressed. As well as the footage of the band playing,
the students have created some animation that would have Peter Gabriel
looking to re-do his famous Sledgehammer video!
Saturday
17 November - The Mangledwurzels played their second Christmas
gig, being joined by Santa Claus on stage at the Cadbury Garden
Centre. The gig went well with Santa’s Coming
To Somerset and Lonely This Christmas
a part of their Christmas set. And the advanced order forms for
the single was handed out - and the first batch of singles sold.
These will be shipped as soon as the singles are pressed.
Tuesday
13 November - The students at students at Frome
Community College's Media Department arrived for their weekly

- and the final mix-down has begun
Thursday
8 November - The Mangledwurzels went back in Handsome
Llama Recording Studios armed with various drums, bass guitar,
Christmas bells, hunting horn and several discs of sound effects
to add to the recording. Chaos ensued - but organised chaos
- and the band is mightily pleased with the results!
Tuesday
6 November - The Mangledwurzels website is now set-up to
accept online donations through Paypal.
Tuesday
6 November - The Mangledwurzels meet the students at Frome
Community College's Media Department. The band is filmed performing
The Twelve Days Of Christmas (farmyard version)
in the media studio. The students have captured a nice 'live' feel
to the filming, including Seth's Christmas hat falling off in mid-song!
Meanwhile other students were putting together some excellent animation
clips which will be included in the video. I wish we had facilities
like this when we were in school!
Monday
5 November - Permission has finally been obtained from
the original writers and copyright holders of Lonely
This Christmas (Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman/Chinnichap
Publ. Ltd.) to release a 'mangled' version of their song. Negotiations
can now start with our mystery guest for the voice-over in the song.
Monday
29 October - The Mangledwurzels recorded the three tracks
at Handsome Llama Recording Studios
in Frome. Some slick sound engineering by Will Angeloro means the
band leave with the first cuts of the songs.
Thursday
18 October – Bad News! RABI
have informed us that the Smithfield Agricultural Show at the Bath
& West Showground planned for the end of November has been cancelled
due to restrictions on animal movements. So we'll have to have the
launch party somewhere else.
Monday
15 October - The Twelve Days Of Christmas (farmyard
version) lyrics are finalised; and a copy emailed
to Frome Community College's
Media Department.
Thursday
11 October – first press releases sent out
Wednesday
10 October – Full band meeting and practise. Three
songs are chosen to appear on the EP – Santa’s
Coming To Somerset, which is a self-penned song which
always goes down well at the band’s Christmas gigs; Lonely
This Christmas – the 1970s Mud classic with
‘mangled’ lyrics and the mystery celeb on vocals; and
The Twelve Days Of Christmas –
with new lyrics and the video by the Frome College students.
Wednesday
3 October – Idea for charity Christmas single mooted.
