Banham
has been a centre for cider making for
generations - Gaymer’s Cider originated
in Banham - although the area is now
more famous for its zoo! Gaymer’s
set up its factory in the 19th century,
later moving to larger premises at nearby
Attleborough. The company subsequently
changed hands and no longer produces
cider in East Anglia.
But
all is not lost, because cider is still
made in the village; award-winning Banham
Cider, a small independent company that
has been producing cider since the 1980s.
The best place to get Banham Cider is
on-site at The Banham Barrel (formally
the Banham Cider Shed); which multi-tasks
as a live music venue, pub and restaurant,
as well as being the place to buy off-sales
of Banham Cider. |
