| Description |
Cider
has been produced on this site for over
400 years. Brimblecombe Cider is set
in idyllic countryside, has its own
cider orchard with 15 different varieties
of cider apples and is located in an
amazing Devon longhouse barn, parts
of which date back to Saxon times.
Well
worth a visit to see the ancient cider-making
equipment in the darkened heavily-beamed
barn which dates back to Saxon times.
On the way in you will see the massive
hand-operated press (pictured) with
its stone bed, still used today. |

Brimblecombe's
Cider is produced in the old traditional
method by pressing milled apples through
straw. The apple juice is allowed to
ferment naturally until it becomes cider.
It is then conditioned in large oak
barrels in the old cider barn at Farrants
Farm. The cider is dispensed straight
from the oak barrels in the barn behind
the press (see picture). The cider is
available dry, medium and sweet and
as "regular" or vintage. |
