In
bygone years the Cadogan family have
been no exception to the Gloucestershire
tradition of cider making. Back in 1960
when others were ripping their orchards
out to make way for more cattle grazing
Colin and son Chris were updating and
planting new cider apple trees. Now
it’s Chris’s own son - also
named Chris - and his wife Nicola to
take the apples and pears and grind
and press them into some of the finest
farm house Cider and Perry that money
can buy.
For
many years the Cadogan family have been
supplying other cider and perry producers
with fruit. They have four mature orchards
of traditional standard trees that have
never been sprayed with pesticides or
as like. Their trees produce several
varieties of cider apples and perry
pears, and they have now begun to produce
their own cider and perry. This cider
is made from a blend of their own traditionally
pressed cider apple variety and matured
in oak barrels for many months. They
carefully chose the best fruit we have
to make these delicious drinks. |
