Cock Robin Cider

Description

Making cider in the village of Abbeytown in Cumbria was probably last conducted by Monks in the large Cistercian Abbey of Holme Cultram some time after 1150 AD. Cock Robin Cider have decided to remedy that lapse and so Cumbria's first real cider producer launched in the summer of 2005.

They have gone to great lengths to select the right unsprayed cider fruit from old large standard trees in Hereford. Rich in tannin, bitter sweet flavours, and character they make a more rounded and mellow juice, they are then shipped up to Cumbria for selecting and pressing before being aged with oak to produce Cock Robin Cider's tasty cider products.

New bottling hall and pressing shed operational on the airfield at Silloth.

Ciders
  • Happy Apple - the main blend made from Red Streak, Dabinet, Michelin, Chisel Jersey, Bulmers Norman and Brown Snout cider apples. It is aged for just 2 months in oak to preserve the raw fruit flavours. With such a blend of different apples, it is an assault on your taste buds. Mellow and easy to drink with a refreshing and thirst quenching after taste leaves you wanting more. No need to serve with ice or mix with anything else. (6.5 % Alcohol)
  • Rockin Robin - blended with just three types of fruit, this strong tongue-twisting light-coloured cider holds its own; it is fresh and refreshing and has proved popular with 'younger' cider drinkers. Light in colour from its late harvest sharp fruit; dry but you never taste the dry edge as the tangy bitter-sweet and sharp flavours take over leaving the inside of your mouth watering from the unusual flavour overload. Great in the sunshine, leaves you rockin'. (7.3 % Alcohol)
  • Red Cock - a sweet bottle conditioned champagne style cider, light and very refreshing with all the flavour and lasting after taste you would expect. Exceptional depth and sparkling flavour, as fruity as the day it was pressed. (6.0% Alcohol)
