| Description |
The
Cornish Cyder Farm - formerly known
as Cornish Scrumpy - are
the largest Cornish Cyder maker in Cornwall
and the only distillers making Apple
Brandy and Fruit spirits. In fact they
have Cornwall’s only distillery
- the first in Cornwall for 300 years.
They make over forty varieties of delicious
fruit products including farm scrumpy,
sparkling cyder, country wines, jam,
chutneys and spirits.
In
2001, they won the the title of Supreme
International Champion Cider at the
ICPC International Cider & Perry
Competition held in Hereford, beating
114 entries from around the world. |
| Ciders |
The
Cornish Cyder Farm make strong farmhouse
cider according to traditional methods.
Their 'Legless But Smiling' Cornish
Scrumpy is pressed from specially selected
cider apple fruit such as Dabinett,
Yarlington Mill and Harry Masters' Jersey
grown in their own orchards.
All
the cyder fruit is pressed and fermented
at the farm in 25000 litre Vats. After
fermentation it is left to mature prior
to bottling. Master cyder maker, Mr
Paul Sawford then uses his skills to
blend the cyders to produce a drink
worthy of carrying the Cornish Scrumpy
label.
Some
cyders, made from a particular variety
of apple, can be so exceptional that
he will divert them after fermenting
into our wooden oak barrels for further
maturation. It was a cyder such as this
that won the International Cider and
Perry Competition held in Hereford in
2001. |
