The
name 'Cripple Cock' was previously owned
by Langdons a well regarded traditional
cidermaker based at Hewish, near Weston-Super-Mare
in Somerset, and before that by Dixie's
Fine Cider of Bristol. Fowler's bottled
ciders feature the same one-legged rooster
on the label. Cripple Cock is a clear,
slightly sparkling bottled cider. |

I
suspect that Fowlers do not sell direct
to the public, and your best bet would
be to look for their products in supermarkets,
farm shops and tourist traps. Please do
not visit these premises without first
telephoning. |

"Last
year, arriving in South Devon I was
desperate for some
cider and it was too late in the evening
to go to the local cider mills, so
I bought some "Really Fowl Cider",
"Cripple Cock" etc. which
was all the
local offie had. I was pleasantly surprised
by its quality and taste. Yes, the image
is a bit naff and clearly aimed at tourists,
but it's good quality stuff with plenty
of flavour nonetheless - a good standby
if you can't get anything better."
