Not
a commercial outfit, The Harrold Calvados
Society was set up in 2004 to revive
the art of cider making in the area
of Harrold in Bedfordshire. Profits
from their events are donated to local
charities. Membership is by recommendation
only. Ownership of a share, once approved
by the committee, confers lifetime membership
which is non-transferable. Members
are expected to abide by the Societies
rules: "Drink and be merry!"
Armed
with their own press, this 'mutual society
solely owned by its members' produces
a range of apple-based beverages (apple
juice, cider, calvados, etc.) sharing
in the pressing and contributing to
all the stages of cider making, including
the vital last stage of drinking it...
