Rich's Farmhouse Cider

Description

Rich's Farmhouse Cider is a family run business offering farmhouse cider, cider products, hampers, visits and much more. Cider has been produced at Rich's Cider Farm at Watchfield for over 50 years. There have been many changes since Gordon Rich started pressing cider apples at Mill Farm although essentially the production of the juice is still traditional. In the Autumn the air is filled with the wonderfully heady aroma of crushed apples as the oak vats are filled with amber nectar. All Rich's superb cider is made the proper way from real cider apples and matured in oak vats - including the girt big 10,000 gallon one. Rich's have shown their future commitment to scrumpy by planting some new orchards of traditional cider apple trees to ensure the future supply!

Rich's has always been a family business. Jan took over the cider farm in May 1998 when Gordon sadly passed away. With the help of her husband Brian, cousin Martin Rich, Russell Salway and Jan's sisters and their families, the farm has been brought up to date.

Ciders

Rich's Farmhouse Cider produce Sweet, Medium or Dry traditional farmhouse ciders. All are fermented in oak barrels and sold draught from the wood. Visitors to the farm can buy in plastic containers or stone jars, you can also buy 10lt and 20lt boxes online from the website.

User Comments

The cider is well-rounded and full of character - just scrumptious! You can buy dry, medium, sweet or any combination to your taste. Rich's is a favourite with many Scrumpy User Guide visitors, judging by the comments received - and I can only agree! Bring your own containers or buy them here. As if all that weren't enough, Rich's are one of the friendliest scrumpy makers you could wish to meet!

One of my favourite ciders.
Jethro Tool of The Mangledwurzels

This place just gets better and better. The new restaurant is superb - and their ciders are consistantly as good as you can get. A++
