About
Unquiet Slumbers

that is not dead which can eternal lie
and with strange aeons even death can die

(H. P. Lovecraft)

Unquiet Slumbers is a role-playing game based in the Mythos world of H.P Lovecraft designed to be run as a Postal (Play By Mail) or Play By Email game. At the heart of the game is the En Garde! game engine designed by GDW and marketed occassionally by SFCP. Overlaying this are rules converting the setting from 16th Century France to the Mythos 1920s.

These rules combine elements of various postal En Garde! games including the sadly missed Backstabbers United Monthly (B.U.M.) PBM game, as well as the Call of Cthulhu RPG and the Arkham Horror board game. No two Unquiet Slumbers are the same though, and the final rules, ambience and style is down the the respective gamesmasters.

There is currently only one Unquiet Slumbers game in progress. Unquiet Slumbers I has been running for several years albeit with a large gap in the middle. Originally set in Arkham, this game has been relocated to the Somerset town of Avonport in England, and is run by the Unquiet Slumbers originator, Frank Blades.

Unquiet Slumbers II (aka Slumbers) evolved from a game run by Chris Ritchie which he called 'Noisy Slumbers' (I think they missed the relevance of the original name!). Slumbers was set in Arkham and run by Francis Bramley. This game folded in Spring 2002.

Anyone interested in joining the current games should contact the gamesmaster directly.

Anyone interested in starting a new game should contact Frank Blades for resources, advise and moral support.
